Bosch builds the 100, 300, 500 and 800 Series and the Benchmark line on one water path, which is why Bosch dishwasher repair in San Diego goes faster when the technician already knows it. Water enters through a dual-solenoid AquaStop inlet valve (BSH 00622058) and a flow sensor that counts the fill. One heat pump — the circulation motor with a flow-through heater on its outlet — moves and heats the water at once; there is no exposed element in the tub. A separate drain pump (00620774) sits under the filter cup; a float in the base pan watches for leaks. The door carries the control module, latch and dispenser; on 800 Series and Benchmark a zeolite CrystalDry box heats the final rinse air to 176°F. When one of those pieces stops reporting, the display shows an E-code — where our diagnosis starts.
Dispatch starts with your E-Nr. The number on the door-edge tag tells us which heat-pump revision, drain pump and inlet valve belong to your build. The van leaving 2637 Summitview Ln in Spring Valley then carries the matching 00620774 pump, 00622058 valve, 10006917 lock and sump seals. Heat pumps and control modules are ordered to the same E-Nr and arrive in one to two business days. Chula Vista to Escondido: call (619) 330-5105 or book online.

Diagnosed by code alone, a Bosch gets a blind part swap. Diagnosed by Spark, it gets the part that actually failed.
Drain pump 00620774, AquaStop valve 00622058, door lock 10006917, floats, sump gaskets and spray arms ride on the van and usually go in on the first visit. Heat pumps and modules do not: one heat pump carries three BSH numbers (00755078, 12014980, 12019637) by E-Nr, so they are ordered against your tag.
A puddle under the toe kick, or an AquaStop float that trips after every reset: close the angle stop (the shut-off valve under the sink), latch the door and do not start another cycle. A second fill only deepens the pan. Tell dispatch; base-pan water goes to the top of the same-day route, seven days a week.
Registered as #C 62399 with the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, insured, and Bosch-minded on the kitchen floor: service program first, then meter readings on the heat pump, drain pump, valve coils and float switch. No heat pump is condemned on a hunch.
Is the $90 extra? No: it buys the diagnosis, base pan and heater test included, and comes off the quote you approve. Decline, and the visit fee is all you owe. The warranty? Part and labor, 90 days from the day it goes in — and a repeat of that fault within the window means a free return, not a second service call.
San Diego tap water is hard, and scale settles first on the inlet screen and the flow sensor turbine — the start of many E04 and E17 calls. We descale or replace those and read supply pressure before anyone talks about a new valve.
Front-control SHE and SHS, top-control SHX and SHP, panel-ready Benchmark and ADA-height units each come out of the cabinet differently, and we have pulled and reseated all of them.
The flow-through heater inside the heat pump has gone open, or the relay feeding it on the control module has failed. A three-hour cycle that ends cold is the giveaway. We measure both before deciding whether the heat pump or the module is the part.
E01 and E20 point at the heat pump circuit or its internal heater; E21 means the pump is blocked. A glass shard in the impeller gives the same no-flow symptom as a dead winding, so the sump comes apart and the pump is bench-tested before a 00755078-family unit is ordered.
E22 is a clogged fine filter or sump; E23 is the drain pump itself. We clear the filter stack and the check valve, then test the 00620774 pump winding and watch it under a drain command.
E17 is a fill problem at the AquaStop hose or inlet; E04 means the flow sensor is counting wrong. Causes run from a half-closed angle stop and a scaled inlet screen to a 00622058 valve with one dead solenoid. We measure supply pressure and both valve coils.
A Bosch that lights up but refuses to start usually has a door lock (10006917) whose microswitch no longer closes, or a hinge spring that let the door drop. We check the switch for continuity, then the alignment.
E19 is the dispenser solenoid circuit. The lid never pops, the tab sits in the door and the dishes come out dirty. The dispenser assembly or its harness is replaced in the door; sometimes a bent upper rack is blocking the lid.
E31 means the CrystalDry zeolite heater did not reach temperature in the dry phase. The heater, the air channel cap or moisture inside the zeolite box are the usual culprits; we test and inspect before quoting.
A torn lower door seal, a cracked sump gasket, a weeping heat pump O-ring or a loose hose clamp all end as water in the base pan. A fill-and-circulate test with the toe kick off finds the drip, not just the puddle.
Each row pairs Bosch’s meaning for the code with the test we run before a part is quoted. E15 (water in the base pan) has its own section on our Bosch appliance repair page; E24 and E25 get a line below.
| Code | What Bosch means by it | What Spark tests |
|---|---|---|
| E01 | Heat pump motor circuit fault. | Heat pump windings for an open or short, harness to the control module, module output. |
| E02 | Heater relay on the control module, or the temperature sensor. | NTC temperature sensor reading against its chart, relay output at the module, heater circuit. |
| E04 | Flow sensor (water quantity) reporting wrong. | Flow sensor turbine for scale, inlet screen, supply pressure at the angle stop. |
| E05 | Water switch / wash arm diverter circuit fault. | Diverter motor and position switch, harness, module output. |
| E09 | Heater or heater relay failed — no heat. | Flow-through heater for an open circuit, relay on the module, heater connector. |
| E17 | Water inlet / filling problem. | AquaStop hose and angle stop, inlet screen, 00622058 valve coils, supply pressure. |
| E19 | Detergent dispenser solenoid circuit fault. | Dispenser solenoid continuity, harness in the door, lid mechanism and rack clearance. |
| E20 | Heat pump internal heater / winding fault. | Heat pump winding and heater continuity, connector corrosion, module relay. |
| E21 | Heat pump blocked. | Impeller for debris, bearing drag by hand, pump tested on the bench. |
| E22 | Filter blocked — water cannot pass the sump. | Fine filter and sump strainer, check valve, impeller cover. |
| E23 | Drain pump fault. | Drain pump 00620774 winding, voltage at the pump during a drain command, hose and air gap. |
| E24 | Water did not drain — filter side; pump cover may be loose. | Filter stack, pump cover seating, hose, air gap, disposal knockout. |
| E25 | Drain pump blocked, or pump cover loose or missing. | Pump cover clicked home, impeller cleared, pump run on a drain command. |
| E31 | Zeolite (CrystalDry) drying heater did not heat. | Drying heater, air channel cap, moisture in the zeolite box. |
The E-Nr comes before the toolbox: it fixes which service program, heater and pump revision we test. Then six checks in a fixed order — the code names the circuit, the meter names the part.
Before a panel comes off we read two things: the E-Nr, which fixes platform and part revision, and the fault memory. The service program then steps the inlet valve, heat pump, drain pump, diverter and heater one at a time; we watch which stage posts the code.
Toe kick off, flashlight in. If there is water, we find the source — sump seal, heat pump O-ring, hose clamp, door seal — and dry the pan. The float switch is checked in both positions so a tripped float is never mistaken for a pump fault.
Connector off, the heater is measured for an open circuit and the motor winding for continuity, then the relay output on the module is checked under load. Heater open equals heat pump; heater fine and no voltage equals module.
Filter stack and sump strainer out, pump cover checked for a loose seat, impeller spun by hand. The 00620774 pump is measured for an open winding, then run through the service program while we watch voltage and flow. Hose and air gap come last.
Pressure at the angle stop, screen at the hose, then each solenoid coil on the 00622058 valve. One coil open fills slowly and trips E17; a flow sensor turbine fouled with scale posts E04 and is cleaned or replaced.
The 10006917 door lock microswitch is tested for continuity with the door closed, the dispenser solenoid for resistance and the control module for a stable supply. On 800 Series and Benchmark we also test the CrystalDry heater and the AquaSensor turbidity sensor.
The eight lines below are the Bosch dishwasher repairs we quote most in San Diego County, parts and labor, $190 to $560. The quote is written after the diagnosis; the $90 service call is credited against it.
| Drain Pump 00620774 (E23) | $220 – $340 |
| Heat Pump with Flow-Through Heater (E01 / E09 / E20) | $340 – $560 |
| AquaStop Inlet Valve 00622058 + Screen (E17) | $200 – $320 |
| Door Lock 10006917 / Latch Alignment | $190 – $260 |
| Detergent Dispenser Assembly (E19) | $190 – $300 |
| AquaSensor Turbidity Sensor or NTC Sensor (E02) | $200 – $320 |
| CrystalDry Zeolite Heater (E31, 800 / Benchmark) | $280 – $380 |
| Control Module (E01 / E02 / E04 electronics) | $380 – $520 |
Ranges move with the series and the part revision tied to your E-Nr: an 800 Series and a 100 Series heat pump are different BSH part numbers at different prices.
Same heat pump, drain pump and AquaStop logic from the 100 Series up. What changes is the control module, the drying system and how the unit leaves the cabinet:
Entry and mid-tier built-ins such as the SHX5AEM5N and SHEM63W55N, roughly 50 dBA on the 100 Series. Typical work: drain pump, AquaStop valve, door lock, dispenser, heater on older units.
AutoAir on the 500 Series at 44 dBA; CrystalDry, InfoLight or TimeLight projection and the third rack on the 800 Series — SHPM88Z75N, SHXM78Z55N, SHPM78Z55N, SHEM78Z55N. Typical work: heat pump, zeolite heater (E31), AquaSensor, control module, door lock.
The quietest Bosch line at 38 to 39 dBA, mostly German-built, with Home Connect, CrystalDry and custom-panel doors. Typical work: control module, heat pump, drying heater, Wi-Fi module, plus the care a custom panel needs.
Model numbers we see most on San Diego calls: SHPM88Z75N, SHXM78Z55N, SHPM78Z55N, SHEM78Z55N, SHEM63W55N, SHX5AEM5N. Yours not here? The E-Nr still tells us the build.

Standing water only gets smellier; here is the sequence after you call:
Read dispatch the E-Nr and whatever the display shows; that decides which pump, valve and heat-pump revision goes on the van. Before noon → today. After noon → most likely tomorrow morning. Evenings and weekends → booked on request. Dispatch then pins a two-hour arrival window.
The technician runs the service program, pulls the toe kick, checks the base pan and meters the heat pump, drain pump, valve coils, float switch and door lock. You see the readings as they come; the quote is one written page, parts and labor.
Pumps, valves, locks, floats and seals go in from van stock on that visit; heat pumps and modules follow one to two business days later. A full cycle confirms heat and drain, and the warranty starts the moment it passes.
The coast brings the panel-ready work: Benchmark and 800 Series units behind custom panels in La Jolla, Del Mar and Carlsbad condos, where the dishwasher must come out without marking the panel. East County and the South Bay run more to 300 and 500 Series in family kitchens.
For a condo or HOA job, give dispatch the gate or lobby code and the panel finish along with the E-Nr when you call (619) 330-5105; mat and tape for a panel pull ride on the van.

E-code on the display? Read us the E-Nr with it (door-edge tag, visible with the door open) at (619) 330-5105, and the matching pump, valve or heat pump rides out on the van. Ring before noon and the visit is today; the $90 is credited against the repair, while the 90-day parts and labor warranty applies to the finished job. Licensed and insured countywide.
The visit, diagnosis included, is a flat $90 service call credited to the repair. Most Bosch dishwasher jobs in San Diego run $190 to $560 in parts and labor. A drain pump, inlet valve, door lock or dispenser comes from van stock on the first visit; a heat pump or control module on an 800 Series or Benchmark is ordered to your E-Nr. An E15 water-in-the-base-pan call most often ends at the service call plus a seal or clamp, and runs $220 to $380 when a hose or the drain pump has to be replaced.
Almost always. On a Bosch the heater sits inside the heat pump, the circulation motor with a flow-through heater on its outlet, and the display usually shows E09. We measure the heater for an open circuit and the relay on the control module that feeds it; a dead relay gives the same cold wash and costs far less.
All three are drain-side. E22 is a blocked filter or sump, and E23 is the drain pump itself. E24 is a drain that will not clear: dirty filter, loose pump cover, kinked hose, clogged air gap or a disposal knockout left in. We clear the filter stack first, then test the pump winding and voltage, then trace the hose.
The float in the base pan rises on very little water, so a slow drip from a sump seal, heat pump O-ring, door seal or hose clamp trips it after every reset. Tipping the unit to empty the pan hides the symptom for a day; finding the drip ends it, and that hunt is part of the diagnosis visit. Until we arrive: angle stop closed, door latched.
The panel stays on, protected first. Benchmark and 800 Series panel-ready units are released from the countertop and side brackets, the cabinet edges taped, the dishwasher eased out on a mat. Afterward we reseat, re-level and recheck the door spring.
Usually repair. Bosch built-ins commonly last 12 to 15 years, and the usual failures (drain pump, inlet valve, door lock, even the heat pump) cost a fraction of a new 500 or 800 Series. A control module past 12 years is the one case where we may say replace; then you owe only the service call.
No. Spark Appliance Repair is an independent, licensed and insured San Diego company, not Bosch factory service. Still inside the Bosch warranty term? Check with Bosch first; the claim may cost you nothing. Out of warranty, we repair it with OEM BSH parts ordered to your E-Nr and back the work with our own 90-day parts and labor warranty.
The name on the door, say 800 Series, covers dozens of builds. The E-Nr on the door-edge tag pins down the exact platform and part revision. Dispatch then knows which drain pump, inlet valve or heat pump to load before the technician leaves Spring Valley; one read-out saves a second trip.
