LG washer repair in San Diego that starts with the code on the display, not a parts order: OE, LE and dE are read, then measured, before anything is quoted. Licensed and insured; the van leaves Spring Valley with LG pumps, locks and hall sensors aboard. $90 service call, credited toward the fix; same-day visits for morning callers (before noon); parts and labor under a 90-day warranty.

An LG washer fails differently from a belt-drive washer, so LG washer repair in San Diego starts with the Inverter Direct Drive layout. The stator bolts to the back of the outer tub, the rotor rides on the drum shaft, and a hall sensor (LG part 6501KW2002A) tells the main board how fast the drum is really turning. No belt to slip, no clutch to wear. So an LG that stops spinning almost always has one of four faults: a locked rotor (LE), a silent hall sensor, a drain pump that cannot clear the tub (OE), or a door lock that never confirms the latch (dE). Our technicians read the code, run LG’s built-in service test, and measure the suspect part with a multimeter before anything is ordered.
Spark Appliance Repair is the LG washer technician San Diego County calls, with LG washing machine repair dispatched from 2637 Summitview Ln in Spring Valley. That covers the front-load WM series, WashTower and TWINWash stacks, the WashCombo, and TurboDrum WT top-loads. The parts that fail most ride on every van: the 4681EA2001T drain pump, the EBF61315801 front-load door lock, hall sensors, inlet valves, suspension rods and shock absorbers. Stocked-part jobs are finished on the spot; ordered parts take 1–2 business days. Call (619) 330-5105 or book online.

An LG washer repair done by someone who guesses at the stator usually ends in a second visit. With a Spark tech you get:
A drum full of standing water starts to smell inside a day and the door gasket mildews soon after. Call before noon and a van stocked for LG laundry usually reaches you the same day, seven days a week; leaks jump the queue.
Registration: California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, #C 62399. Insurance: carried. Training: every technician on the Inverter Direct Drive motor, 6Motion drum control and LG’s service-test mode — which is why the meter, not the code, names the part.
Ninety days covers the part we fitted and the labor behind it, bearing and stator jobs included. Same fault back before day 90 is up? We return, and the second visit costs nothing.
Worked example: a $260 drain pump quote means $170 more on the day, because the $90 covers the visit and the full Direct Drive diagnosis and comes off the written quote. Decline the quote and you owe the visit, nothing more.
Stocked on the van: genuine LG drain pumps (4681EA2001T), hall sensors (6501KW2002A), door lock assemblies (EBF61315801), inlet valves, suspension rods and shock absorbers. Ordered to your model tag: stators, rotors, bearing kits and main boards.
Standing water (OE): no more cycles; on a front-load, drain the tub through the small hose behind the lower-left flap. Leak or a smell of hot wiring: close both shut-off valves behind the washer and unplug it. A code that will not clear: power-cycle once, then stop — restarts re-stress the lock and pump.
Our most common LG call. We pull the pump filter first (coins, hair ties and sock elastic jam the impeller), check the drain hose for a kink or a standpipe set too high, then test the 4681EA2001T pump winding. A pump that hums but moves no water is replaced on the spot.
When UE repeats with a normal load it is mechanical, not the laundry. Front-loads: worn shock absorbers or a cracked spider arm. Top-loads: stretched suspension rods letting the TurboDrum swing. We fit the OEM rod or shock set and re-level before the final spin test.
LE means the board commanded the Direct Drive motor and the rotor did not respond. In the order we see them: a failed hall sensor, a stator winding reading open or shorted, a seized bearing, or an item trapped between the drums. Each is isolated with a meter before a part is named.
Shut-off valves half closed, clogged inlet screens, a solenoid coil that reads open, or a pressure sensor that never sees the tub fill. Supply pressure and screens first; the OEM valve or sensor goes in the same visit.
On WM front-loads a dE that persists after a firm close is almost always the EBF61315801 door lock switch assembly. Top-load WT units use a lid lock and a magnet strike; a bent strike or failed lock switch stops the cycle before it starts.
A roar that grows with spin speed is the rear tub bearing, and on aluminum-spider front-loads the spider (the three-armed casting that holds the drum to its shaft) often corrodes at the same time. We quote it as a full tub teardown, with an honest repair-vs-replace call first.
Front-load leaks trace to a torn door gasket, a cracked dispenser housing, a split drain hose or a weeping pump seal. A fill-and-spin leak test with the lower panel off finds the source; we fix that, not the symptom.
The washer half of a WashTower shares the Center Control board with the dryer. We reach the lower-deck drain pump, door lock and hall sensor through the service panels and only split the tower when a stator or bearing job demands it.
Left column: LG’s definition. Right column: the checklist our technician works through on your laundry-room floor before any part goes on the quote.
| Code | What LG means by it | What Spark checks |
|---|---|---|
| IE | Inlet / fill error — the tub did not fill in the allowed time. | Supply valves open, inlet screens clean, solenoid coil continuity, pressure sensor hose. |
| OE | Drain error — water was not pumped out in the allowed time. | Pump filter, impeller, drain hose height and kinks, 4681EA2001T pump winding and voltage at the pump. |
| UE / UB | Unbalanced load — the drum could not be balanced for spin. | Shock absorbers and spider (front-load), suspension rods (top-load), leveling feet, drum play. |
| LE | Motor locked — the Direct Drive rotor did not turn when commanded. | Hall sensor 6501KW2002A, stator windings 5–15 ohms per pair, rotor magnets, bearing drag, trapped objects. |
| dE | Door / lid not locked. | Door lock assembly EBF61315801 (front-load), lid lock and strike (top-load), harness to the board. |
| FE | Overfill — water level exceeded the limit. | Inlet valve sticking open, pressure sensor reading, air hose to the sensor. |
| PE | Pressure sensor fault. | Sensor output, pinched or waterlogged air hose, connector at the board. |
| tE | Water temperature sensor out of range. | Thermistor (temperature sensor) resistance, heater element, heater harness. |
| CE | Motor overcurrent. | Stator for a shorted winding, motor harness, bearing drag under load. |
| SUd | Too many suds — the washer pauses to let foam settle. | Detergent type and dose (HE only); repeat SUd with the right detergent points at the pressure sensor. |
| CL | Child lock is on — not an error. | Hold the Child Lock button 3 seconds; we check the keypad if it will not clear. |
LG’s service-test mode fires the pump, valves, lock and motor one at a time, but it cannot see a winding drifting out of spec or an air hose holding water. So the test runs first, the meter second:
Stored code pulled, then each load stepped in test mode: fill valves, pump, door lock, motor. A part that passes here and still fails mid-cycle points at wiring or the board — hence the next five steps.
Lower panel off, pump filter out, impeller spun by hand. Then voltage at the pump during a drain command and continuity across the winding. Voltage present but no pump action means a new OEM 4681EA2001T.
Back panel off, rotor removed. Each pair of the three stator leads should read roughly 5 to 15 ohms, all three within about an ohm of each other. An open or uneven pair means a new stator. The 6501KW2002A hall sensor is checked for a clean signal while the rotor is turned.
Mechanical fit first — a hinge that has dropped a few millimeters keeps the strike out of the EBF61315801 lock. Then the lock switch circuit is tested and the assembly replaced if it never reports locked.
Inlet screens and solenoid coil continuity first. Then the air hose from the tub to the pressure sensor — a hose holding water fools the sensor into overfilling or never filling. We clear the hose and read the sensor directly.
Drum play is checked by hand: a front-load that drops and clunks has bearings or a cracked spider, a top-load that swings freely has stretched rods. We say plainly when a bearing job is not worth it.
What an LG washer repair costs in San Diego County, parts and labor together: most jobs land between $180 and $520, bearing jobs run to $640, board jobs to $540. The written quote follows the diagnosis with the $90 service call already subtracted.
| Drain Pump 4681EA2001T (OE) | $180 – $320 |
| Water Inlet Valve (IE) | $160 – $300 |
| Door Lock Assembly EBF61315801 (dE) | $180 – $340 |
| Hall / Rotor Position Sensor 6501KW2002A | $160 – $260 |
| Suspension Rod Kit (Top-Load UE) | $200 – $400 |
| Direct Drive Stator or Rotor | $340 – $520 |
| Rear Tub Bearings + Spider (Front-Load) | $350 – $640 |
| Main Control / WashTower Center Control Board | $280 – $540 |
| Tromm-Era Drain Pump or Door Lock (cross-over LG part) | $180 – $340 |
Bearing and spider work is a full tub teardown, always quoted as its own line before we start. Every row carries the 90-day parts and labor warranty.
The Direct Drive core is shared from the WM3400CW to a WashTower; the access path and the parts list are not:
WM3400CW, WM4000HBA and the WM family with Inverter Direct Drive, TurboWash and 6Motion. Common jobs: drain pump (OE), door lock (dE), hall sensor and stator (LE), shock absorbers (UE), gasket leaks, bearing and spider teardown on older units.
WKEX200HBA / WKGX201HBA WashTower stacks with the shared Center Control panel, TWINWash front-loads with the SideKick pedestal washer, and the WM6998HBA WashCombo with its heat-pump dryer. Common jobs: lower-deck pump and door lock through the service panels, Center Control board, pedestal washer drain faults.
LG Tromm washer repair is still on the menu: older Tromm front-loads running in San Diego garages, plus WT7300CW, WT7150CW and other TurboDrum top-loads. Common jobs: suspension rods (UE), lid lock switch, drain pump, inlet valve.
Model numbers we see most on San Diego calls: WM3400CW, WM4000HBA, WM6998HBA, WKEX200HBA, WKGX201HBA, WT7300CW, WT7150CW. Not listed? The model tag inside the door tells us which part revision to bring.
LG dryer on the same stack acting up too? Our dryer repair team handles the DLE / DLEX upper deck on the same visit.
Four steps, and for most LG washers one visit — standing water does not improve by waiting:
Model tag (inside the door) and code in hand? Ring before noon and today’s LG route gets a stop for you; after lunch, dispatch usually holds tomorrow’s first slot. Evenings and weekends are bookable too. (619) 330-5105, or the online form.
Service-test mode, then meter readings on the pump, stator, hall sensor, door lock and inlet valve. You see the readings and hear what failed in plain language.
Parts and labor itemized, with the service call already subtracted. Nothing is ordered until you approve the number.
Pump, lock, sensor, valve and rod jobs finish on the first visit from van stock; stators, boards and bearings follow once the ordered part lands. The warranty clock starts that day.
Dispatch runs out of Spring Valley, so East County — La Mesa, El Cajon, Lemon Grove — is the shortest drive on our board; central San Diego, Chula Vista and the coast follow, then North County.
Escondido, Carlsbad and Encinitas are on the LG washer route too. It is the longer drive, so a morning call is what secures a same-day slot there.

Remember to use the dishwasher cleaner they recommend.
Two things make the call faster: the model tag inside the door and the code on the display. Read both to dispatch and the van leaves with the right LG pump, lock or sensor aboard. The $90 comes off the repair bill, the 90-day parts and labor warranty rides with the work, and a morning call usually means a same-day slot.
The written quote has three lines. Line one is the service call, $90, paid at the visit and credited back when you approve the work. Line two is the part: a drain pump or door lock at the low end, a stator or rotor at the top. Line three is labor. Most LG washer repairs in San Diego total between $180 and $520; bearing-and-spider jobs run to $640, board jobs to $540.
OE means the pump could not empty the tub in time. On LG front-loads the usual order is a clogged pump filter, a kinked or too-high drain hose, then a 4681EA2001T drain pump that has stopped moving water. We check all three and replace the pump from van stock when it fails the test.
LE is a locked-motor code, and the motor itself is rarely the first thing to fail. We measure the three stator windings (about 5 to 15 ohms per pair, all within roughly an ohm of each other) and test the 6501KW2002A hall sensor first. A hall sensor is a far cheaper fix than a stator.
If the door closes firmly and still shows dE, the lock assembly is not confirming the latch. On WM front-loads that is the EBF61315801 door lock switch; on WT top-loads it is the lid lock or a bent strike. We also check the hinge, because a sagging door misses the lock even when the switch is fine.
For most jobs, yes. The drain pump, door lock, hall sensor and inlet valve on the lower deck are reachable through the service panels, and the shared Center Control board sits in the middle module. We only split the stack for a stator or bearing job, and we say so first.
Drain pumps, door lock assemblies, hall sensors, inlet valves, suspension rods and shock absorbers ride on the van, and those jobs finish on the first visit in about 60 to 90 minutes. Stators, rotors, main boards and bearing kits are ordered and take 1–2 business days.
It does not need to. If your washer is still inside LG’s coverage window, say so when you call and we tell you whether a factory claim is the better route. Direct Drive owners should know that LG warrants the stator and rotor for ten years from purchase, parts only — the labor is not included, and that is a job we do. Out of coverage, every repair carries our own 90-day parts and labor warranty.
If the washer is under about eight years old and the bearing-and-spider quote is below half the price of a comparable new LG, repair wins. Past that age, or if the spider has corroded through, we say so and you only pay for the visit.
Noon is the line. Reach dispatch before it and you ride that day’s route; later callers usually take the first slot the next morning, and evenings and weekends can be booked too. Dispatch confirms a two-hour arrival window.
For the pump, door lock, inlet valve and most sensors, yes — those parts cross over to current LG numbers and we stock them. Some Tromm-era boards and stators are discontinued; if yours is one of them, we say so and give an honest repair-versus-replace recommendation.
